the milky way filling the sky over the landscape of Badlands National Park

a starry story for you to sink into ✨

A trip to The Badlands If you're following me on Instagram, you may remember that I took an astro trip to South Dakota and Wyoming back in May. To be transparent, this was my first trip since going to Texas last April. That's 14 months without a proper night under dark skies, the longest break I've taken since I started doing this professionally.Somewhere along the way, social media sort of trained my brain to believe that if a trip isn't more epic than the last one, it won't stand out. Every...

Reflecting on 2025 💫

Hey all,I hope you've had a great holiday season! Just a quick reflection on this year:I checked off some major travel bucket list items and couldn't be more grateful. From traveling in Tokyo with for the Sigma BF launch at their headquarters, to getting engaged to my best friend in the place we met - it's a year I'll never forget. This year I shot less astro than usual and my goal for next year is to get under dark skies a little more. That being said, I'm proud of my progress as an artist...

huge print giveaway (and other updates) 🤩

Hey all,A couple of important updates for you: My 2026 Astro Calendar will be available in 24 hours! This year's calendar will be different from previous designs - I implemented a lot of the feedback I received from you all over the years to make it better than ever before! This one will be landscape orientation rather than portrait so I can use some wide images that never would have fit in previous editions. The moon in high resolution.

I finally did it!! 🌖🛰️

Surely I'm not the only one who has their bucket list of shots.I'm lucky enough to have even pulled a few of them off already, which is pretty awesome. Last week, I got to check another one off that list! ⬇️⬇️⬇️ To me, photography (especially astrophotography) scratches two itches: the need to document something beautiful, and the need to master something highly technical. This image certainly checks both of those boxes! About the shot: For the last few years, I have kept an eye on...

A new chapter in my photographic journey...

Nikon called, and I answered. An unexpected path... Look, if you know anything about me, it's that I have always been a Sony shooter. I live and breathe their gear, and I have been incredibly humbled by my working relationship with that brand. I'm so lucky to collaborate with the company that makes my camera(s) of choice. So when Nikon reached out to me earlier this month, I was quite surprised. They invited me to an exclusive multi-day event called "Creators Camp". Just a few days later they...

New Year, New Image ✨

my new image First off, happy new year! I wish you great health, success in your endeavors, and to have fulfilling experiences surrounded by your loved ones. My hope is that on top of all of that, you also get a chance to reconnect with a dark sky here or there 🤞. Either way, I'll be here to provide you with that connection on some level! August's Perseids, part II. After the phenomenal response to the first meteor shower image I shared back in November (thanks again to all who ordered a...

How I made an image the size of a wall 📸

Buy The Eye How does one create an incredibly large image? Even the most expensive camera in the world can't create an image as high of resolution in a single shot. Here's how I assembled my latest work, The Eye. The first step to creating a highly detailed image is using a really zoomed in lens. I used Sony's 50mm f/1.2 lens and created a panorama of the sky in 15 shots (5 shots wide, 3 rows). 15 shot panorama for the sky taken on my star tracker. My first attempt at this was actually a huge...
